Badminton England UKCC Accredited Level 2 Coach, Dorset Junior Assistant Coach, U12 & U14 Squad Manager, Dorset Performance Group Coach, Bournemouth Performance Centre Coach.

Richard first started playing badminton at the age of 11 and was quickly spotted by Dorset as a prospect for the future and having represented Dorset from U12 through to U16 Richard picked up numerous trophies in singles, doubles and mixed doubles competitions earning him the opportunity of representing Dorset at England Training camps.

Following injury and his commitment to become an electrical engineer Richard took a break from the sport, however following a challenge from a close friend he once again found his love for the game that he had as a junior and introduced his daughter Mia to the sport. This subsequently led Richard to gain his coaching qualifications following which he joined Dorset badminton along with his daughter Mia in October 2018.

His enthusiasm for the game along with his people skills shone through and soon he became coach to our U12 squad, then also the U14 squad. As a coach Richard is very committed in ensuring that players are nurtured and supported in order to achieve their potential and to treat all players as the individuals that they are.

Asides to his work with the county squads, Richard also coaches for the Dorset Performance Group along with the Bournemouth Performance Centre.

His attention to detail combined with his dedication to his players and also the county is second to none with Richard giving up lots of his free time to support them and help promote the sport of badminton within the county of Dorset.
